I began my Compliance career in the UK in 2004. At that time, confidence had returned to equities after the dot-com stock market crash. Enthusiasm to invest had grown, but this was short lived. Subsequent failures by governments and the financial services industry to manage risk led to the Great Recession.

A vision for the long-term survival of financial services must be founded on a clear and straightforward framework. Complexity creates uncertainty. Human-nature is to exploit gaps in detail for personal gain. Solutions must be directed towards the right social as well as commercial outcomes. Companies need clarity, not uncertainty, to compete in a global market.
